THE STORY

Sri Lanka’s coir industry is the world’s primary supplier of various grades of coir fibre. Processing coir fibre and fibre based products is a centuries old industry in our country. A unique technique known as the ‘drum system’ is used to extract fibre from the coconut, resulting in long, pure fibre suitable for the brush industry and short fibre used in mattresses. Two categories of coir fibre exist; brown and white, which amount to 80% and 20% respectively of the world coir fibre demand. Kosuki Lanka makes a range of products based on coir and its by-products.
